Jane Pettigrew’s Top Tips for Tasty Tea-Making
l

1. Use BRITA filtered water for a better tasting tea – BRITA filtration reduces limescale, chlorine and metals such as lead and copper to improve the taste, smell and appearance of hot water for your tea
2. Boil the water to the correct temperature for the type of tea you are brewing - water for green tea should be boiled to 70°C and black tea to 95-96°C
3. Use a good quality tea and make sure it is stored in an air tight container in a cool dry place away from other smells
4. Brew the tea for the correct amount of time for the particular type of tea and in relation to the size of the tea leaf
5. Try the tea before adding milk and sugar, both of these can often ruin or overpower the taste of the tea
