Is your equipment made to matter?

BRITA’s latest campaign aims to reduce waste to landfill by prolonging the lifespan of professional equipment

BRITA is passionately dedicated to finding ways for its customers to reduce waste and cut costs across the catering and hot beverage sectors, which is why we’ve launched Made to Matter.

This is a brand-new initiative that shines a light on the throwaway culture that’s become the norm for many hospitality and foodservice operators when it comes to replacing their professional equipment.

Our research shows that 99% of hospitality professionals want to work for a sustainable company, yet one third of businesses only expect their machines to last just three-to-four years. With breakdowns accounting for nearly half (47%) of new equipment purchases made by businesses, many feel they are left with no option other than to undertake costly replacements when something goes wrong.

Rather than replacing faulty machines, our new report, Made to Matter – Uncovering the changing perceptions of machine longevity suggests that businesses should be focusing on prolonging the lifespan of their equipment by carrying out essential preventative maintenance and installing professional water filters for added protection.

Not only this, but many professionals are unaware of the impact premature breakdowns can have on the warranty of their equipment. If an equipment breakdown is traced back to water quality, then the warranty is no longer valid for that unit - unless further issues arise which are not related to water quality.

The report also contains expert advice for teams on equipment maintenance from Donald Harvey, Area Sales Manager from industry-leading manufacturer Blue Seal; and Julian Fisher, Head of Marketing at First Choice Group, shares his tips on how hospitality businesses can best choose the right partner for their sustainability journey.

To mark the launch of the campaign, BRITA is running a competition that will see one lucky winner take away a top of the range Sage Barista Pro Coffee Machine worth £699, plus more prizes for runners up! In addition, there’s more to come from BRITA’s Made to Matter movement. We’ll be sharing exclusive videos, where we’ll hear from our valued customers about how professional catering equipment fuels their passion, brings their vision to life, and makes their business possible.
