Feeling flat at work?

Here are three hacks for workplace wellbeing to keep your team sparkling

Did you know three quarters of people would stay in a job longer if they had connections with their colleagues?

It makes sense when you think about it – seeing a friend in the office can add a real boost to your day. Just one conversation a day with a teammate can make a difference to employee happiness levels[1].

In a world of hybrid working, it can be harder for businesses to cultivate the same sense of culture and team spirit as when people were sitting opposite colleagues for 38 hours a week.

Now, it’s all about making the most of the precious time your team spend in the office together and creating situations where conversations, and connections, can be started.

1. Fika like the Swedish:

Organising small breaks to go for coffee and a pastry is known as ‘fika’ in Sweden – and it’s considered a daily essential! More than just a break, the Swedish consider Fika as a ritual. It reminds people to pause, refresh themselves and strengthen their relationships.

2. Keep design in mind:

While hybrid working has its benefits, 76% of people agree it’s harder to keep up healthy habits working from home.

A well-designed breakout area with facilities to make hot and cold drinks, can help your team stay hydrated, refreshed and more productive. From getting more steps in, to chatting about weekend plans, encourage your team to get up from their desks and move around throughout the day.

3. Get people talking:

Mental health is now the biggest cause of long-term sickness in the workforce[2]. But it’s not always easy to spot who might be struggling. If the senior team lead by example and the workplace is seen as a safe space to talk about feelings, it can help others open up too. And what better time to check in, than over a cuppa?
